11/08/20: A mysterious disease seems to be targeting the plant life all throughout Drift. Decay and rot is breaking down trees and small sections of forest in many different places. Meanwhile, a new pack has begun to rise within Idaith while the Assyr pride begins to falter and slowly disappear within Veyr. Winter will be upon the continent soon, but what does this disease mean for the creatures that call this place home? Mysterious sounds and small quakes seem to be happening occasionally when no witnesses are present to see their source. Could they somehow be releated to the disease or are the creatures of Drift destined to be confronted with multiple dangers when the snow begins to fall?

Season

Autumn

The skies have begun to darken with autumn rains during the day and the nighttime temperatures are starting to plummet. Mornings outside of the desert lands are greeted by frozen dew and fog, and leaves have begun to change colors and fall from the trees. Winter is quickly approaching and with it comes unknown dangers. There is strength in numbers, but what about those that have no place to call home?

    Patrolling [Gweneviere]

They said ghosts traveled in the Wastes.

Yellow paws landed heavily on the dusty earth of Drokath, but as he moved through his territory, he saw no sign of what had been foretold. Were they simply stories to scare young cubs and keep them from getting lost and starving in this place? That was the most likely explanation, but as he walked he still looked around curiously in hopes of spotting something even remotely similar to what he assumed a ghost would look like. Life had been dull lately, with no one in or out of the territory since Ajani's disappearance. It was a shame that the other male had gone, and it had hurt him deeply, but there were others to think about now. Izel and Mint had remained, and therefore Vox was determined to maintain their home no matter how bored and lonely he was.

And so he moved towards the border, carefully stopping now and then to mark a tree or rock with his scent. This place belonged to him, and alongside him stood Izel. Perhaps it would not be too difficult for a rogue male to take over a pride when there was only one male protecting it, but with two it was unlikely. With Ajani it had been nearly impossible, but that was in the past it seemed. With a heavy sigh he paused at the edge of the territory, looking out over the land they neighbored and wondering what it held within it. But he would not explore it, not today. They had all the land they needed, and with no cubs to protect at the moment, he could relax and know that his pride was safe. After a few more minutes of gazing and wondering, he turned to face his home, roaring out his claim over and over again so that it echoed and rolled across the fields like rumbling thunder.

    Gweneviere

    You're lookin' crazy
    You're lookin' wrong
It looks like we're gonna get along

    "You alright there, hm?"

Curious blue eyes watched, faintly amused, as the lion roared out his... claim, or well, that's what Gweneviere presumed he was doing. The tip of her striped black tail flicked from behind her as, slowly, she eased herself back onto her haunches, continuing to stare kindheartedly at the male. The question had been meant simply as a joke, and merely anything but. As matter of fact, it didn't even have to be what was considered a genuine question. Nevertheless her wanderlust drew her onward, as she seemed to drift gradually deep into the depths of her mind. This lion seemed... relatively nice, to say the least. Now, of course, this was all despite the fact he hadn't actually spoken any words since Gwen had run into him. But the simple truth was she had been watching from afar for what had been quite some time now, having secured herself within one of the few shrubs that neighbored them.

And throughout each second she had spectated the male, a question - a real, actual question - lingered from the back of her skull. If what she'd assumed was true, and this lion really was trying to claim territory, perhaps she could... offer him a little fight for it. After all, Gweneviere, admittedly, wasn't sitting on her rightful side of the stretch. She was sitting on what she supposed was now this male's turf. Oh, but it was no biggie. For the tiger, that was. Chances were this lion would have differing opinions.

And, well, a fight could provide her with quite some practice. For when she'd have to avenge her mother, of course, though she knew that would be a long time from now.

The equally muscled paws came to match the male's seemingly stride for stride once she got up, with each paw leaving behind in its presence a large, four-toed print. "Ello there, male," she hummed, quite informally to be frank. But hey, she wasn't looking for this to escalate into anything more than a simple play-spar, might as well not come off as intimidating or... something along those lines. "I'm gonna take it this is your land, eh? Or are you only just now claiming it." A crooked smirk crossed the tigress's maw upon the last few words; twas fun to joke around sometimes. "Because I just so happen to be one of the few inhabitants of this land." Ah. Hehe. False information, but nevertheless good bait for a little sparring. Gweneviere, at the moment, wasn't officially of any land in particular. Though this one would make a nice home...

    Re: Patrolling [Gweneviere]

A sound, albeit soft to start, easily alerted him that he was not alone. In fact, it was only a matter of seconds before he spotted a dark creature with pale silvery stripes approaching. His jaw parted slightly, a deep inhale telling him that it was a female and a diardi like himself. However, she was still somehow different. He shook his mane absently as she approached, noting how she boldly walked over the territory border to stand closer to him. Her words made his ears flick backwards for a moment, but the reappeared from his mane only a moment or so later. "It would be quite difficult for you to have lived here, for I claimed this land and have maintained it for nearly over a year now." He said, tilting his head and lowering his hips into a sitting position. She was large for a female, but still smaller than him, and he wondered where she came from and if there were others like her.

But for the time being he focused on the fact that she was in fact here, and she seemed to be rather confident in her obvious lies. "My male companions and I have marked the borders clearly every day, and unless Ajani or Izel have claimed you as their own and kept you hidden from me, I do believe you are lying to me Miss." He said, tilting his head to the right and if he could raise an eyebrow he would have. His tail tip rested beside him, the long hairs on it blowing gently in the breeze as he flicked it every once in a while. "What is your true purpose here?" He followed up his accusation with a clear question, for though he found her intriguing and dare he say attractive, he did not appreciate being lied to. He would discover her intent one way or another, but it would truly be a shame for him to have to injure her in any way.

All in all, Vox was not an aggressive creature. In fact, he was often the one of the three males that took things the least seriously. Perhaps Ajani was the most stoic and serious, while Izel was the chivalrous type. But Vox could easily be described as the bad boy that liked to do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted to. It was not common that he took offense to things, but lying was truly not acceptable in his mind. Still, he would give her a chance to redeem herself, for he did not like labeling others as good or bad and instead preferred to leave more serious matters to his male counterparts.
